Three Piano Men – Tami Curtis, artist
SOLD.
Inspired by Allen Toussaint, Professor Longhair and Dr. John.
The original of Three Piano Men is on permanent display in the Memphis Blues Hall Of Fame. The artwork also was featured in Billboard Magazine in a story about the museum.
In the artist’s words:
When people ask me ‘How long did it take you to paint that?’ I now respond, “All my life.” The confidence I have about my work is a result of a lifetime of joys and disappointments.
Since Hurricane Katrina, my palette has transformed into one that allows each color to stand alone to be recognized, while working to bring about the bigger picture with the hue that radiates alongside it. That is the way of the South. Each person is a large character by his or her own right, but together, we find a way of building a culture that is unlike any other.
All the time, energy, and inspiration in my artwork are blessings from God. Art itself is a mirror of God’s gifts of family, friends, nature and culture. I thank Him for this journey and joyously give Him the credit for what I create.
